After Your Procedure

Recovery:
After your procedure, you will be taken to our Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) so our nurses can monitor your progress. To ensure privacy and the highest level of care, visitors are not allowed in the PACU. (Exceptions may be made if the patient is an infant or young child. In that case, one parent may be allowed to stay with the patient.) Once you are well enough to leave the PACU, you will be moved to another recovery area, and we will notify your friends and family that you may have a visitor.

Discharge instructions:
A registered nurse will review the discharge instructions with you and the adult who will be driving you home. If you have questions, please don”™t hesitate to ask.

Going home:

Remember, you must have another adult drive you home and stay with you for at least 24 hours after your procedure.

Follow-up:

One of our registered nurses will call you the day after your procedure to see how you”™re doing. Be sure to follow your doctor”™s instructions on follow-up care and appointments and to call him or her if you have any questions.
