Two Albany Med Health System Hospitals Among Most Wired Hospitals in the Nation

ALBANY, N.Y., Nov. 9, 2022 — Albany Medical Center and Saratoga Hospital, partners in the Albany Med Health System have been recognized among the “Most Wired” hospitals in the nation by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME).

The CHIME Digital Health Most Wired program assesses how effectively healthcare organizations apply core and advanced technologies to their clinical and business programs to improve health and care in their communities.

“The advancement of information technology has always been a priority in our commitment to safely and securely serving our patients, care providers, employees and community,” said Kristopher Kusche, chief information officer of the Albany Med Health System. “As we strengthen the connections between our Albany Med Health System hospitals, we look forward to continuing to share resources and integrate services, enhancing our ability to treat our patients as a single health system that spans the Capital Region.”

As part of CHIME’s annual survey, more than 36,000 organizations across the country were certified at levels ranging from 1-10. Each institution was evaluated on their use of information technology in eight areas: infrastructure; security; business/disaster recovery; administrative/supply chain; analytics/data management; interoperability/population health; patient engagement; and clinical quality/safety.

Both Albany Medical Center and Saratoga Hospital earned recognition for achieving Level 7 Acute and Ambulatory, indicating that they have deployed technologies and strategies to help them analyze their data, resulting in meaningful clinical and efficiency outcomes. These levels also recognize the use of more advanced technologies, including telehealth, that expand access to care.
