Saratoga Hospital to Present Travel Medicine Seminar

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY, March 30,  2018— On Thursday, April 12 at 6 p.m., Saratoga Hospital will present “Health Considerations for the Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Relief Volunteer” at the hospital in the First Floor Classroom, 211 Church Street, Saratoga Springs.

Natural disasters in the United States and around the world prompt many people to travel to provide aid and assistance. International travel can present its share of health risks, especially if aid and relief volunteers are not prepared with the appropriate vaccinations, medications, and information on healthy travel practices.

This seminar will discuss how volunteers can prepare themselves to provide assistance; how to identify country-specific recommended vaccines and medications; food and water precautions; insect and animal precautions; and unique concerns and personal safety tips for medical aid providers.

Lori Barker, MS, RN, CEN, CPEN, the travel medicine nurse for Occupational Medicine, a service of Saratoga Hospital, will be presenting.

Registration is required. Call 518-580-2450, or register online at saratogahospital.org/classes.
