Saratoga Hospital Again Ranks Among Nation’s ‘Most Wired'

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y., Oct. 25, 2021—Saratoga Hospital has once again been named one of the nation’s “Most Wired” healthcare organizations.

The Digital Health Most Wired designation, from the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives, recognizes Saratoga Hospital’s effective use of information and digital technology to enhance patient care and safety. Because it was certified at level 8 for both its acute (hospital) and ambulatory (outpatient) services, Saratoga Hospital also earned a quality award.

“Digital technology is improving healthcare in myriad ways, including by connecting electronic medical devices, securing electronic health records and engaging patients through telehealth and other services,” said John Mangona, vice president and chief information and compliance officer for Saratoga Hospital.

“For Saratoga Hospital, the Most Wired designation affirms that our investments in technology are making a difference for our patients—and that’s always our first priority,” he added. “For our patients, the Most Wired designation means they can turn to Saratoga Hospital with confidence that we have the systems and safeguards in place to deliver high-quality care and protect their privacy.”

Hospitals earn the Most Wired designation by participating in a comprehensive annual survey to assess how well they apply core and advanced technologies to improve health and care in their communities. Institutions are certified at levels ranging from 1 to 10.

Those who achieve level 7 and above are rated Most Wired. In the Capital Region, only Saratoga Hospital and its affiliate Albany Medical Center Hospital qualified for the Most Wired designation.

Saratoga Hospital has earned the Most Wired designation for five of the past six years. Albany Medical Center Hospital has made the Most Wired list for each of the past eight years.

Organizations are evaluated in seven areas: infrastructure, security, administrative/supply chain, analytics/data management, interoperability/population health, patient engagement, and clinical quality and safety.
