Saratoga Bariatric Surgery & Weight-Loss Program Earns MBSAQIP Reaccreditation as a Comprehensive Facility

Another affirmation of the quality of Saratoga Hospital’s bariatric services

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y, July 14, 2021—Saratoga Bariatric Surgery & Weight-Loss Program, a service of Saratoga Hospital, has earned reaccreditation as a comprehensive facility by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program.

MBSAQIP is a joint program of the American College of Surgeons and American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. MBSAQIP reaccreditation signifies that Saratoga Hospital Bariatric Surgery & Weight-Loss Program meets rigorous national standards for bariatric care.

“This accreditation—along with and our other national quality designations—lets patients know that we’re committed to their long-term health and success,” said Dr. Dmitri Baranov, medical director, Saratoga Bariatric Surgery & Weight-Loss Program. “Our dedicated team provides personalized care throughout a patient’s weight-loss journey, from that first consultation through lifelong monitoring.”

To maintain MBSAQIP accreditation, a bariatric surgery program must demonstrate that it has expertly trained staff, provides comprehensive preoperative and postoperative care, and takes a multidisciplinary approach associated with the best possible patient outcomes. MBSAQIP-accredited programs also participate in a national data registry that reports on surgical outcomes and identifies opportunities for quality improvement.

Saratoga Bariatric Surgery and Weight-Loss Program has been MBSAQIP-accredited since 2014. The program also is recognized as a Blue Distinction Center by BlueShield of Northeastern New York and as an Aetna Institute of Quality Bariatric Surgery Facility.

Because of its track record of patient safety and success, and its reputation for individualized compassionate care, Saratoga Bariatric Surgery and Weight-Loss Program routinely draws patients from throughout the Capital Region, North Country, Western Massachusetts and Vermont.
